PORTFOLIO - Charles Bergeron, Nulles parts

Photo monochrome: barrage sur une rivière imaginaireA native of La Tuque, Quebec, Charles Bergeron studied visual arts at Université Laval, Quebec City, and Université du Québec à Montréal. He currently lives in Montreal.

Trained mainly in sculpture and installation, he only recently discovered the possibilities offered by photography. His photographic “centrings” (his term) are used for sculptures that cannot fit within gallery spaces. He draws on his memory to imagine landscapes, which he then constructs. By photographing his own installations in nature, during carefully planned expeditions, Bergeron invents sites halfway between dream and reality.
