PORTFOLIO - Mia Weinberg, Fractured Legacy

Photo n&b d'une installation avec projection d'une vue en négatif d'une grande maison familiale sur un drapéMia Weinberg has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, where she lives. Her artistic practice revolves around three axes: the notion of cultural displacement (diaspora), links between generations, and the influence of identity.

In Fractured Legacy, she examines the repercussions of the uprooting and dislocation her family suffered during the Second World War. By recontextualizing the visual elements associated with her cultural and family heritage, Weinberg explores more generally the effects of persecution and oppression and their repercussions on ensuing generations. The Fractured Legacy installation comprises three separate works: a projection of images on drapes and two photographic murals.
